Jonathan is a founding principle of Variant Perception, a macroeconomic research group that provides investment strategy to asset managers across the globe. He is an American Rhodes Scholar who, since leaving Oxford, has worked in the corporate strategy group at Lehman Brothers, as an Equity Analyst at SAC Capital, and as a VP in proprietary trading at Bank of America. He is co-author (with John Mauldin) of New-York Time’s bestsellers Endgame and Code Red, books about the sovereign debt crisis and unconventional monetary policy. Jonathan was a Finalist for the 2012 Wolfson Economic Prize for his work A Primer on the Eurozone Breakup: Default, Exit and Devaluation as the Optimal Solution. He graduated with a BA with highest honors in Economics and History from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and an M. Litt in Modern History from Oxford University. Jonathan has lived in Latin America, Europe and the US, and speaks Spanish, French and Italian.
