Admittedly I didn't read much of it but the problem with most "peak" natural resource statements is that reserves are measured in currently known reserves that are presently economically feasible. It may be true that the cheapest oil is running out but that just means it will be more profitable to either invent new extraction technology or an alternative such as electric cars.

There is plenty of lithium for EVs but for them to be feasible batteries have to go from the current roughly $250 per KWh to $100KWh to make EVs cost competitive. Given batteries are falling at a rate of 7% per year that would put the transition period around 2030.
