Macro Voices Discussion Forum

The investment world is full of scam artists and con men, and one of their favorite tricks is to join an investment-related forum like this one, warm up to other users on that forum, then try to run some kind of scam on them. While we do our best to remove any posts we feel are inappropriate we recommend extreme caution when considering investment advice posted by other guests on this, or any other public forum. I know Paul's take on gold is going to chafe with some of you, but I think it's worth listening to because this shake-out in gold, while inflation expectations rise, has me scratching my head... US dollar is obviously one of the biggest stories right now and the idea that de-dollarization is actually bullish for USD is counter-intuitive but also makes perfect sense.

I realize that this episode was taped before the latest China inflation figures came out but one has to now question Krake's assertion that "the only way a debt explosion becomes a problems is if you have domestic inflation" and that "overcapacity issues guarantee that you won't have inflation".

Since then, of course, we've seen both CPI and PPI numbers heat up and nothing in the data suggests that this is an aberration. If anything, quite the opposite.

Izabella Kaminska has a nice piece on Diana Choyleva's work on the potential macro consequences here:
